Youth Art Exhibition

March 15 @ 4:00 pm - 5:30 pm

Art students from Adele Harrison and Altimira Middle Schools are at the perfect age to learn how to become good stewards of our planet. Last month, the students were given time in their art classes to research an endangered animal of their choice, and write a description including what it eats, its size, what it looks like, and its habitat. They were provided class time to draw rough drafts of several animals while deciding which one to paint for the assignment. After studying several different composition techniques (Rule of Thirds, diagonal elements, symmetry, and centering), they were given time to create an interesting painting of the animal in its natural habitat. This assignment is a great opportunity for students to show what they’ve learned.

Their wonderful art teacher, Cheryl Coldiron, has been with SVUSD to teach students at both of our wonderful middle schools for the past 17 years.
