About the Friends of the Sonoma Valley Library
The Friends of the Sonoma Valley Library is a non-profit, volunteer
organization dedicated to raising funds in support of the Library.
Since 2000 the Friends have raised over $600,000 from quarterly book sales, memberships and donations.
- Almost
$400,000 has been spent in purchasing furnishings, computer hardware,
tables, chairs, funding additions to collections, sponsoring programs,
and subscribing to periodicals such as Value Line and The New York
Times.
- Friends funded a recent purchase for a large number of Spanish language titles for children and young readers.
- In 2012 Friends contributed $100,000 towards the major renovation of the Library.
- Friends
sponsor and support ongoing programs such as Summer Reading Programs,
musical, author and poetry readings and theatrical performances at the
Library.
